Director

Dr. Ramprakash Agarwal is the director at HUA – South Florida Center. He is a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Banaras Hindu University, India. Currently he is the Associate Professor of Medicine in the Divisions of Hematology/Oncology and Bio-behavioral Oncology at the Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami, and the Visiting Professor of Oncology, Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai. He has served as faculty at Banaras Hindu University, Brown University and Boston University School of Medicine. For the last forty-five years Dr. Agarwal has worked in the field of experimental therapeutics of anti-cancer and anti-AIDS drugs, authored more than 90 scientific papers, book chapters and reviews, and served as an Associate Editor and reviewer for scientific journals, and a member of the NIH Study Sections. He is one of the founding members of, and former President of, the American Association of Indian Scientists in Cancer Research. Dr. Agarwal has a keen interest in Yoga as a Therapeutic Tool, Integrative Medicine, and is an advocate of cultural sensitivity in bioethics.

Satya Gupta

Associate Director – Operations

Mr. Satya Gupta is the Associate Director, Operations at HUA – South Florida. He has been engaged with HUA since 1994. Leaving behind his law studies, he joined the Indian Army at the age of 21 yrs during the emergency of 1962 and served for about five years; mostly in the operational areas, first the insurgency war in Nagaland and then in Punjab, including the 1965 Indo-Pak War. After coming back from the army and completing his law studies, he joined the Civil Services of India for about 12 yrs and came to USA in March 1980.

In May 1981, he graduated from Harvard in Public Administration. He worked briefly in the Budget Department of the City of Miami and then switched over to business. Having almost retired from his business, Mr. Gupta devotes considerable time reading , writing and volunteering. He was fascinated by Ramcharit Manas which he rendered in English verse. It took him about fifteen years to get it published as ‘Tulsi Ramayan in English Verse’. He has also translated another small book on Ramayan, written by Shri Lallan Prasad Vyas. He is also a volunteer for the Coast Guard Auxiliary of America.

Sharmistha Chatterjee

Associate Director – Academics

Dr. Sharmistha Chatterjee is the Associate Director – Academics at HUA – South Florida Center. She is a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University. She started her academic career as a faculty at Vidyalankar Polytechnic, Mumbai, India. Currently, along with her regular duties as the Associate Director of Academics, she is also actively setting up the technology center at HUA – South Florida Center. She has also been affiliated with Broward College – North Campus and has served as a reviewer for the coursework for Florida TRADE (Transforming Resources for Accelerated Degrees and Employment) Grant. She has authored and co-authored several scientific papers, book chapters and served as reviewer for scientific journals.
